ABOUT SEA
WOODS NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
In
2003 Martha Skinner, a resident of Sea Woods, organized
a Sea Woods Neighborhood Watch program. Residents were asked
to patrol the area during Halloween and Easter. Other times
to watch for any activity out of the ordinary, to advise
the office if any street lights or security lights were
not working and to generally be aware of what was going
on in the area. Shortly after establishing the Neighborhood
Watch, the HOA board had alarms installed in both the North
and South pools. Another alarm has since been added at the
heated pool. As a result of the Watch program and the pool
alarms, vandalism in the area has been reduced considerably.
Shortly after Sea Woods established a Watch program our
neighbors in Silver Sands (south of us), followed our example
and organized their own program. We now stay in touch with
them.

During
the 7 or so years that our Neighborhood Watch has been in
operation, it has grown from being a policing organization
to a way to keep everyone advised as to what is going on in
Sea Woods and surrounding neighborhoods. It is not just for
year round residents. Regardless of whether residents are
here full time, for 6 months or just for a week, they are
considered part of Sea Woods. The Neighborhood Watch keeps
everyone informed as to what is going on in our neighborhood.
E-mails are exchanged with information regarding lost dogs/cats,
hurricane/weather updates, tax information and just about
anything that would be of interest to the community.
If
you have a computer we invite you to be a part of our Neighborhood
Watch updates by e-mail, just let Martha know at SeawoodsNwatch@yahoo.com
or go to Sea Woods Citizen and
check the box for "add me to Neighborhood Watch e-mail."
All e-mails are sent out under blind copy so your address
is protected. But remember to let us know if and when your
email address changes. |
